Description

Scope:
This standard specifies the requirements and test methods for scented and unscented sodium hypochlorite solutions also known as liquid chlorine bleaches. It also specifies requirements for labelling and characteristics of the containers used in the packaging of the product. This standard applies to sodium hypochlorite solutions intended primarily for use in cleaning, sanitizing and similar applications in a residential or other environment. This standard does not apply to:
a) solid sodium hypochlorite;
b) household cleaners that contain sodium hypochlorite; and
c) industrial grade sodium hypochlorite solutions.

NOTE 1 Liquid chlorine bleach is also known as household chlorine bleach.

NOTE 2 Sodium hypochlorite solutions with 10 – 15% available chlorine are usually marketed as industrial grade.
