Description

This standard specifies requirements for the following types of renewable energy systems: Solar photovoltaic (PV) systems; fuel cell systems; and small wind electric systems. This standard includes requirements for solar photovoltaic (PV) electrical energy systems, including the array circuits(s), inverter(s) and controller(s) for such systems. Solar photovoltaic systems covered by this standard may be interactive with other electrical power production sources or stand-alone, with or without electrical energy storage such as batteries. These systems may have ac or dc output for utilization. This standard also includes requirements for small wind (turbine) systems that consist of one or more wind electric generators with individual generators having a rated power up to and including 100 kW. These systems can include generators, alternators, inverters, and controllers. This standards covers the installation of one or more electric power production source(s) operating in parallel with a primary source(s) of electricity. This standard does not address physical and structural requirements for renewable energy systems.
