TTCS 16:2023, READY-MIXED CONCRETE – COMPULSORY REQUIREMENTS

$0.00

Scope
This document applies to the production and supply of ready-mixed concrete for buildings, cast in situ. The standard applies to ready-mixed concrete (including self-consolidating concrete) delivered to the purchaser in an unhardened, fresh state.

This document applies to the constituent materials, plant and equipment and production control systems used in the production of ready-mixed concrete.

This standard applies to ready-mixed concrete orders where the minimum compressive cylinder strength is specified by the purchaser. It does not apply to ready-mixed concrete orders where the purchaser specifies the mixture proportions, also referred to as prescribed mixes.

Description

NOTE  This standard covers options A and C for ASTM C94/C94M and the designed mix of BS EN 206. Further information on the ASTM C94/C94M ordering options is outlined below:

–           Option A – This scenario applies where the producer assumes full responsibility for the selection of the proportions of the concrete mixture with the minimum compressive strength specified by the purchaser;

–           Option B – This scenario applies where the purchaser assumes responsibility for the proportioning of the concrete mixture; and

–           Option C – This scenario applies where the producer assumes full responsibility for the selection of proportions for the concrete mixture with the minimum allowable cement content and minimum compressive strength specified by the purchaser.

This document provides a framework for assessing compliance with the purchaser’s requirements. This document does not specify general, minimum quality requirements for ready-mixed concrete but assesses compliance on the basis of conformance to purchaser’s requirements. In addition, this document does not apply to the following:

–           concrete used in the construction of transportation infrastructure including highways, bridges, pavements and tunnels;

–           concrete used in the production of precast beams and columns;

–           non-volumetric site mixed concrete; and

–           the placement, consolidation, curing or protection of ready-mixed concrete.

NOTE: Ready-mixed concrete is produced to meet the purchaser’s requirements and the intended application, thus the properties of individual orders of ready-mixed concrete may vary.

This standard also outlines the mechanism to demonstrate compliance to the purchaser’s requirements and includes measures to be taken in the event of non-compliance.
