TTCS 12-2:2022, Electric Cables – Thermosetting Insulated, Armoured Cables of Rated Voltages of 600/1000 V and 1900/3300 V for Fixed Installations
This standard specifies the compulsory requirements for the construction and performance of thermosetting insulated, armoured electric cables for voltages of 600/1000 V and 1900/3300 V. This standard is applicable to electric cables for use in fixed installations in industrial areas, buildings or similar applications, of the following types: a) 600/1000 V cables, wire armoured and oversheathed, having single-core, two-, three-, four- and five-core stranded copper conductor; b) 600/1000 V multicore auxiliary cables, wire armoured and overheathed, stranded copper conductor; and c) 1900/3300 V cables, wire armoured and oversheathed, having single-core or three-core stranded copper conductor. This standard is applicable to electric cables that are designed for a maximum sustained conductor temperature of 90 °C and for a maximum short-circuit conductor temperature of 250 °C (for a maximum of 5 s). NOTE Limitation on the temperature of the cables may be imposed in situations where they might be touched or where they could touch other materials. This standard specifies the compulsory requirements for flexible cords, elevator cables, and hoistway cables rated 600 V maximum and electric vehicle cables rated 1000 V maximum and intended for use in accordance with TTS 171: Part 1, Trinidad and Tobago Electrical Wiring Code – Part 1 – Low voltage installations. This standard covers the following products: a) Service cords; b) Elevator cables; c) Hoistway cables; d) Heater cords; e) Range and dryer cords; f) Cords for decorative lighting; g) Tinsel and lamp cords; h) Special use cords; and i) Electric vehicle cables.
