Acceptable Formats for Name and Address on Labels

1)   Name of manufacturer, agent, distributor, seller, re-filler, packer, importer, wholesaler, or retailer of the good:

Unacceptable Format: Made by FMC Ltd (where this is an abbreviation of the entity’s registered/legal name)

Acceptable Format: Made by Fictional Manufacturing Company Ltd (where this is the entity’s registered/legal name. Abbreviations will be accepted where they are part of the entity’s registered/legal name, e.g. B & C Ltd.)

Other Accepted Statements:

  • Manufactured by: (registered/legal name of entity),
  • Produced by: (registered/legal name of entity),
  • Packed by: (registered/legal name of entity),
  • Assembled by: (registered/legal name of entity),
  • Imported by: (registered/legal name of entity),
  • Distributed by: (registered/legal name of entity),
  • Sold by: (registered/legal name of entity).

2)   Address of manufacturer, agent, distributor, seller, re-filler, packer, importer, wholesaler, or retailer of the good:

Unacceptable Format: Trinidad

Unacceptable Format: Macoya, Trinidad

Acceptable Format: 1-2 Century Drive, Trincity Industrial Estate, Macoya, Tunapuna, Trinidad and Tobago.

The listed address on the product must be the entity’s registered/legal address.

3)   Country of Origin:

Unacceptable Format: Made in EU or Made in EC

Note: “EC” or “EU” for European Community or European Union, respectively, are not acceptable abbreviations since they do not indicate the individual country of origin of the good.

Acceptable Format: Made in Singapore

Other Accepted Statements:

  • Manufactured in: (full name of country),
  • Produced in: (full name of country).

Note: items 1 and 2 (name & address) do not have to be separated, i.e., one label can have both the entity’s name and address. For example:

Made by: Fictional Manufacturing Company Ltd.
