EXAMPLE Solid solutions include construction steel, brass and amalgam waste which may arise from construction, plumbing, dentistry and other activities.

This standard does not apply to:
a) organisations such as government ministries, regulatory departments and agencies, associations and statutory bodies that do not provide a tourism related service; and
b) objectives set forth by the national water authority and other relevant agencies which are to be achieved through implementation of national standards and compliance obligations.

It is a national certification programme designed to assess whether Tourism Operators (TO) meet national tourism quality standards.

The TTTIC programme is intended to improve and standardize the quality of the country’s tourism products. It provides a level of assurance that certified TOs have achieved minimum acceptable levels of service in their operations. The Trinidad and Tobago Bureau of Standards (TTBS), the Trinidad Tourism Agency Limited (TTL) in Trinidad and Tobago Tourism Agency Limited (TTAL) in Tobago jointly execute the TTTIC programme.

This standard does not apply to tourist information desks or booths located in accommodation facilities.
NOTE: Tourist information offices are also known as tourism information centres (TIC).

This standard specifies minimum requirements for the operations of tourist attractions that are:
a) manned and managed; and
b) promoted by the operator for leisure, adventure, recreational, amusement or therapeutic purposes.
It addresses both the facilities and the services provided; included are requirements for:
a) bookings and registration;
b) reception area and restrooms;
c) signage; and
d) staff requirements.
This standard applies to tourist attractions of any size whether Government-operated or privately operated.
This standard does not apply to:
a) tourist attractions which are not manned or managed;
b) tourist attractions which are not promoted by the operator for leisure, adventure, recreational, amusement or therapeutic purposes; and
c) sites which are used only for the hosting of events.

NOTE 1: The term ‘tourist’ applies to local and foreign visitors.
NOTE 2: TTS 637-2:2015 specifies the requirements for tourist information offices.
